The EMP180-T1000 is capable of producing 100 kW continuous power and 180 kW peak power. With operating speed of 1000-2000 RPM (to a maximum of 2500 RPM), it generates a Torque of 600 Nm continuous and 1000 Nm peak. The weight of this integrated unit is 20kg, and its compact volume is 39.8 cm (diameter) by 22 cm (length). It is currently the most power-dense electric engine of its class, with (max) power density at 9. Configured in the EM-POWER patent-pending unique architecture with power-electronics satisfying aviation standards (certifiable by EASA and CAAC), complete with high-density proprietary winding technology, designed with dual redundancy. This unit is air cooled. The performance specs summary of the EMP180-T1000 is shown below.
The EMP180-T1000 electric machine with integrated inverter for motor control offers dual redundancy for aviation safety. The integrated system is designed with minimum distance between the electric machine and the integrated control electronics which minimizes loss and maximizes efficiency. Further, the scalable modular electronics with fast switching Silicon Carbide (SIC) technology combined with short shielded current paths yield highest performance required for high torque aircraft propulsion.
There are three interface connections from the EMP180-T1000 to the aircraft system. Two of them are for DC BUS power cables, one positive and one negative. The third connection is for the data cable.
In summary, the core advantage of the EMP180-T1000 system is in its high power density, efficiency, and the high volumetric power density which translates to less aerodynamic drag, saving additional energy for range or payload!
